Chopped milk chocolate
candy bars are baked inside and on top of these tasty cookie
bars.

Bar Squares
- 1 cup butter or margarine,
softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
6 milk chocolate candy bars
- Preheat oven to 375°F
(190°C).
- In a large bowl, beat
softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric
mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs.
- Mix in flour, baking soda,
and salt. Chop 6 chocolate candy bars. Reserving 1/2 cup for
garnish, fold the remainder into the flour mixture.
- Spread in an ungreased
13 x 9-inch baking pan and sprinkle with the reserved chopped
candy bar. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Makes 24 bars.
