Easy Holiday Chocolate Chip Brownies

3 cups semisweet chocolate chips - divided use
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1/4 cup nuts, chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large saucepan, over lowest heat, melt 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat.
  3. Stir in sugar and vanilla; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in flour and baking soda; mix well. Stir in 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Spread the batter in a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips and 1/4 cup chopped nuts on top.
  4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until just set. Cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
