A great 'cake-mix-easy', fix-it-up and call it homemade walnut applesauce spice cake.

Walnut Applesauce Cake

1 (18.25-ounce) package white cake mix
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup applesauce
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup raisins
  1. Grease and line the bottoms of two (9-inch) round baking pans with waxed paper.
  2. In a bowl combine white cake mix, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir in applesauce and mix well. Add chopped walnuts and raisins. Stir until thoroughly combined. Pour into the prepared baking pans.
  3. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Cool in the pans on wire racks for 10 minutes then turn out and peel off the wax paper. Cool completely before frosting.
  4. Fill and frost with a cream cheese, caramel, penuche or vanilla buttercream frosting, or simply serve this moist cake sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Makes 12 servings.
