Peanut butter, an American original, and chocolate make a delightful combination. These easy cookies have a decorative swirl of chocolate baked through them.

Marbled Peanut Butter Cookies

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour - divided use
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup honey
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. In a small saucepan, melt chocolate chips over low heat, stirring often; set aside.
  2. Combine butter and peanut butter until mixed. Add 1/2 cup flour, sugar, honey, egg, baking soda, baking powder and vanilla; mix well. Stir in remaining flour. Drizzle chocolate into dough and gently swirl through. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. When dough is chilled, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with bottom of a glass. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until beginning to brown around the edges. Remove from oven and let cool.

Makes 36 cookies.
