Love banana splits? Then
you'll love this specialty ice cream pie!
Banana
Split Pie
- 1 large banana, sliced
10 maraschino cherries, halved and drained
1 (9-inch) pie shell, baked
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 1/4 cup butter
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
3/4 cup half-and-half
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Additional maraschino cherries, drained
Additional banana slices
- Place banana slices and
cherry halves alternately in bottom of baked pastry shell. Sprinkle
with walnuts. Spread ice cream over nut layer. Freeze several
hours.
- In heavy saucepan, melt
chocolate pieces and butter. Add powdered sugar and half-and-half.
Cook until thick. Add vanilla. Cool. Pour over ice cream layer.
Freeze 4 hours.
- Whip cream. Gradually
add sugar. Continue whipping until stiff. Garnish pie with whipped
cream, cherries and banana slices. Serve immediately. Store unused
portion in freezer.
