Landscaping Needs

More Feature Topics:

Get wings a-fluttering with these healthy bird treats.

What You Need:

  • Bagels
  • Peanut butter or thick honey
  • Birdseed
  • Cording
  • Ears of corn
  • Medium-weight wire
  • Red ribbon
  • Cereal
  • Dental floss
  • Sewing needle
  • Apples

Instructions:

1. To make bagel treats, simply cut the bagels in half. Spread the cut side with either peanut butter or thick honey. Sprinkle with birdseed. To make a hanger, thread a short
length of cording through the center hole in the bagel and knot the ends.

2. To make corn treats, wrap wire around the top of the cob, leaving a loop for hanging. Tie a red ribbon bow to the wire.

3. To make cereal garlands, cut a long length of dental floss and thread it into a needle. String dry cereal on the floss. Group the garlands together when hanging on the tree.

4. To make apple treats, cut a short length of wire and fold it in half. Wrap the loose ends of the wire around the apple stem, leaving a loop for hanging. Note: If using wire to hang the treats, be sure to secure the wire to the tree so it cannot be removed by the birds.
