These warm smoked turkey and corn fritters are sure to hit the spot and disappear right before your eyes. Serve as an appetizer at your next party or make a delicious meal filled with all the comfort of the American Southwest.

Smoked Turkey and Corn Fritters

1 (15-ounce) can corn, drained
1 cup smoked turkey, finely chopped
1 large egg, slightly beaten
1 (4-ounce) can ORTEGA® Diced Green Chiles
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter OR margarine, melted
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 (16-ounce) can ORTEGA Salsa - Homestyle Recipe
  1. Combine corn, turkey, egg, chiles, milk, butter and hot pepper sauce in medium bowl. Combine flour and baking powder in small bowl; add to corn mixture. Stir just until combined.
  2. Heat 2-inches of oil to 375°F in a large, heavy-duty skillet. Drop 1/4 cup of batter into oil and fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until cooked through and golden brown. Drain; serve with Picante Sauce.
