Everyone loves spending time with family
and friends. Having a laugh or two, reliving special moments
and creating new ones, what's not to love?
Don't let the three C's get in
the way (coordination, cost and clean up) and make you feel like
giving up before you even start! It's easy to get overwhelmed, but keep in mind,
the best parties are not full blown extravaganzas. They're those
comfortable, easy get togethers where you call folks to come
by, everyone brings their favorite dish, you throw on some music
and let the good times roll. The trick is being ready and flexible
for whatever comes your way.

When
you think of it, party planning can be entertaining.
Here are a few tips on lightening the load with an easy, lighthearted
approach:
- Think
of your favorite recipe as a little black dress - a wardrobe
staple if you will. Add a flowing scarf, sparkling jewels or
a decorative belt and you've turned basic into beautiful. Keep
colorful plates, napkins, hors d'oeuvre picks and platter decorations
at the ready.
- That
triple blast mocha sundae sounded good at the time, but once
you've finished, all the flavors were a bit overwhelming. Less
is definitely more. Choose your menu wisely by offering fewer,
great tasting items.
- Work,
meetings, school, homework, sports, play dates, appointments
- oh my! You wouldn't dare tackle your day without a PDA or calendar
of some sort, right? Organization is the key. Keep your list
of impressive yet easy recipes handy and stock your
pantry with all the necessary ingredients, so no matter which
recipe you choose, you're ready to cook at a moment's notice.
