This recipe turns an ordinary
box of brownie mix into fun, festive brownies using a creamy
homemade chocolate frosting sprinkled with miniature candy-coated
chocolates and a decorative drizzle of white icing.
Confetti
Brownies
- 1 (19.8 ounce) package
fudge brownie mix
1 1/2 cups miniature candy-coated chocolates - divided use
Chocolate Frosting:
- 1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons hot water
White Chocolate Drizzle:
- 3 tablespoons white chocolate
chips
1 teaspoon vegetable shortening
- Heat oven to 350°F
(175°C). Grease bottom of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Prepare brownie mix as
directed on package for fudge-like brownies. Spread half of brownie
batter into prepared pan.
- Sprinkle 3/4 cup candy-coated
chocolates over batter. Carefully spread remaining batter over
candy-coated chocolates.
- Bake 28 to 30 minutes
or until wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove from oven to wire rack; cool slightly.
- Prepare Chocolate Frosting:
Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; add
cocoa stirring until smooth. Add
vanilla and salt. Gradually add powdered sugar with hot water,
stirring until smooth. Spread over brownie.
- Sprinkle 3/4 cup candy-coated
chocolates over frosting and gently press candies down into frosting.
- Prepare White Chocolate
Drizzle: Place white chocolate chips and shortening in small
microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 30 seconds; stir.
If necessary, microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a
time, stirring after each heating, just until chips are melted
and mixture is smooth. Drizzle over candy-coated chocolates.
Cool completely in pan.
Makes 12 brownies.
