Chewy chocolate brownies with a layer of chocolate-covered peppermint patty candies baked in the center.

Peppermint Pattie Brownies

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups butter
3 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 large eggs
24 chocolate-covered peppermint patties candy
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. Combine flour, unsweetened baking cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a bowl; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well between each addition. Add flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  4. Pour 1/2 the batter into the prepared pan and cover with peppermint patties candy. Pour the remaining batter on top.
  5. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Avoid sticking it into the candy for a more accurate indication of doneness.
  6. Cool completely before cutting

Makes 24 bars.
