Decadently rich chocolate brownies topped with a scrumptious peanut butter layer and decoratively topped with a drizzle of milk chocolate.

Rich Peanut Butter Brownies

6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract - divided use
3 large eggs - divided use
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 (12-ounce) package milk chocolate chips - divided use
3/4 teaspoon vegetable shortening
  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together butter, sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.; add 2 eggs; stir until blended.
  4. Add flour mixture to egg mixture, stirring just until blended and spread in prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Leave oven on.
  6. Stir together sweetened condensed milk, peanut butter, remaining egg and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and pour over hot brownie.
  7. Set aside 1/4 cup chips; sprinkle remaining chips over peanut butter mixture.
  8. Return to oven and bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes or until peanut butter layer is done and edges are golden. Cool completely.
  9. Melt reserved 1/4 cup chips and shortening in microwave at HIGH (100%) for 30 seconds; stir. If necessay, microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth.
  10. Drizzle over top of bars. When drizzle has set, cut into bars.

Makes 24 to 36 brownies.
