Here's how to kick up the flavor of a ready-made frozen lasagna.

Lasagna Pastitsio

1 (40-ounce) package frozen lasagna with meat sauce
1/3 cup butter or margarine - divided use
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup dry white wine
3/4 cup (3 ounces) shredded Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  1. Thaw lasagna in refrigerator for a maximum of 48 hours.
  2. Place lasagna on a baking sheet.
  3. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; whisk in all-purpose flour until smooth. Cook, whisking constantly, 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and wine, and cook, whisking constantly, until thickened. Stir in cheese. Cool slightly.
  4. Whisk in egg, and pour over lasagna.
  5. Melt remaining butter; stir in bread crumbs and chopped fresh parsley. Sprinkle over sauce mixture.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes 4 servings.
