Old Settler's Beans

1 pound ground beef
1/4 pound smoked bacon, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (15-ounce) can red kidney beans, rinsed, drained
1 (15-ounce) can lima beans, rinsed, drained
1 (15-ounce) can pork and beans
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup commercial barbecue sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large ovenproof Dutch oven, cook beef, bacon, and onions together until beef is done. Drain. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients and gently mix well. Bake, uncovered for 1 hour.

Serves 4 to 6.
