In this easy version of
oven-fried chicken, the pieces are tossed in seasoned flour mixture
inside a paper bag, and then baked crispy in melted butter.

Shake and Bake Chicken
- 1 whole (2 to 3 pound)
chicken, cut into serving pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black
pepper
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Mix flour, salt, paprika,
garlic powder, onion powder and pepper together in a bag.
Place chicken pieces in bag
and shake until well coated.
- Melt butter or margarine
in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish in the oven. Remove and
place chicken in the baking
dish skin side down and bake for 20 minutes.
- Turn pieces and bake another 20 minutes until tender
and juices run clear.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
