In this easy version of oven-fried chicken, the pieces are tossed in seasoned flour mixture inside a paper bag, and then baked crispy in melted butter.

Easy Shake and Bake Chicken

1 whole (2 to 3 pound) chicken, cut into serving pieces
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup butter or margarine
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper together in a bag. Place chicken pieces in bag and shake until well coated.
  3. Melt butter or margarine in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish in the oven. Remove and place chicken in the baking dish skin side down and bake for 20 minutes.
  4. Turn pieces and bake another 20 minutes until tender and juices run clear.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.
