Green chiles separate this turkey recipe from the rest.
Turkey with Green Chiles
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 pounds turkey breast meat (uncooked), sliced
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 (4-ounce) can ORTEGA® Whole Green Chiles, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup sour cream
- In a large saucepan heat oil. Add chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, salt; mix and add sliced turkey. Brown each slice on both sides.
- Add crushed onion, broth, green chiles and garlic. Cover and simmer 35 to 45 minutes.
- Remove the turkey to a platter,cover to keep warm. Drain juices back into the pan; skim the surface.
- In a bowl blend together flour and water; stir into the sauce. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Stir in sour cream. Serve sauce over the turkey.
