Ground beef patties mixed with shredded colby cheese, crushed tortillias and bottles salsa.

Mexican Cheeseburger

1 pound ground beef
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded Wisconsin Colby cheese
3/4 cup finely crushed tortilla chips
3/4 cup bottled salsa
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
Lettuce
6 hamburger buns, toasted
  1. Combine beef, cheese, chips, salsa and seasonings; mix well. Shape into six 4 inch patties. Cook as directed below.
  2. For Indoors: Place patties on greased rack of broiler pan. Broil both sides to desired doneness. Top each with cheese; continue broiling until cheese is melted.
  3. For Outdoors: Place patties on greased grill over medium coals (coals will be glowing). Grill, uncovered, 5 minutes on each side to desired doneness. Top each with cheese; continue grilling until cheese is melted.
  4. For Microwave: Place patties on microwaveable dish; cover loosely. Microwave on high for 8 minutes, rotating dish 1/2 turn after half of cooking time. Top each with cheese; microwave uncovered 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand 2 minutes.
  5. Place each patty on lettuce-lined bun; top with additional salsa.
