One-Pan Chocolate Frosting
This satiny-smooth and rich-tasting homemade chocolate frosting requires just one pan and very little time and effort to make.
4 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
2/3 cup milk
- Melt chocolate squares and butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. Remove and cool to room temperature.
- Stir in vanilla, then add the powdered sugar and milk, beating on low just until powdered sugar is incorporated, then increase speed to high and beat until frosting has attained desired spreading consistency.
- Use frosting immediately.
Frosts and fills an 8 or 9-inch layer cake, or generously frosts 1 (13x9x2-inch) cake, or up to 36 cupcakes.
