How can I make a cake from
a brownie mix?
Q: I have two boxes of brownie mix. I want to make
a cake .Is there any way I can do this with the brownie mixes
and add something more to it. I was on your site a few days back
I had thought I found something about how to do mixes of this
and that into cakes and other things.
A: Yes, it is possible to make a cake using a brownie
mix, although the cake will be much denser than the average butter
cake. Simply add an extra egg more per brownie mix then is called
for, and use cold water if the mixes call for hot water. Extra
ingredients such a a cup of miniature chocolate chips or chopped
nuts can be added for additional flavor and texture. For best
results, bake the cake in a 13 x 9-inch baking pan, don't attempt
to make it a layer cake. Frost your "brownie cake"
when completely cooled.
There are several recipes at
CooksRecipes.com for make-ahead mixes for such items as cookies,
cakes, brownies and more, but none that uses a brownie mix as
a shortcut to making a cake.
