How can I make candied walnuts?
Q: Hi, I need to know how to make "candied walnuts"
to put in a green salad with feta/craisins/orange/raspberry vinaigrette.
I ate the salad at a restaurant and am trying to replicate it.
Thanks, Cindy
A: Making candied walnuts, or any candied nuts for
that matter, is easier than one would think if not familiar with
the simple procedure. Here is how it is done:
Candied Nuts
1/2 cup whole, slivered, sliced
or chopped nuts
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- In a heavy, nonstick skillet
melt the sugar around the almonds, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat immediately
and quickly spread onto foil-covered surface to cool. Break apart,
if necessary.
