Serve this delicious, golden
brown and puffy cheese toast hot from the oven.

Cheese Toast
- 8 slices home-style white
bread
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk - divided use
2 cups (8 ounces) Wisconsin Gruyère cheese
2 large eggs, separated
1 tablespoon kirsch or cherry brandy
Dash salt
Dash pepper
Dash nutmeg
- Butter bread and place
butter-side down in 12x8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with about
2 tablespoons of milk.
- Combine remaining milk,
cheese, egg yolk, kirsch and seasoning; mix well.
- Beat egg whites until
stiff peak forms; fold into cheese and milk mixture. Pour over
bread in baking dish.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C)
for 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Serve immediately.
