Lightly toasted thick slices of French bread are spread with a mixture of mozzarella cheese, butter, Dijon mustard, hot pepper sauce and sherry, and baked until bubbly and golden brown.

Sherried Cheese Spread on French Bread

10 slices French bread, 1-inch thick
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Wisconsin Mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
  1. Lightly toast French bread slices on both sides.
  2. In small mixing bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, butter, mustard, and hot pepper sauce. Beat at low speed until well-mixed. Gradually add sherry, beating until well-combined.
  3. Spread onto toasted bread slices, covering entire surface of each slice. Place on baking sheet.
  4. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat for about 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese mixture is bubbly and golden brown.

Makes 10 servings.
