Sherried Cheese Spread on French Bread

No recipe image available.Lightly toasted thick slices of French bread are spread with a mixture of mozzarella cheese, butter, Dijon mustard, hot pepper sauce and sherry, and baked until bubbly and golden brown.

Recipe Ingredients:

10 slices French bread, 1-inch thick
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Wisconsin Mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry

Cooking Directions:

  1. Lightly toast French bread slices on both sides.
  2. In small mixing bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, butter, mustard, and hot pepper sauce. Beat at low speed until well-mixed. Gradually add sherry, beating until well-combined.
  3. Spread onto toasted bread slices, covering entire surface of each slice. Place on baking sheet.
  4. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat for about 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese mixture is bubbly and golden brown.

Makes 10 appetizer servings.
