Chocolate-Glazed Brownies

Vegetable cooking spray
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter OR margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large egg whites
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 teaspoons hot water
  1. Preheat oven to 350*F.
  2. Combine 1 cup sugar, softened butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and egg whites in a medium bowl. Stir in flour, 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Spread in greased pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the center is set.
  3. Meanwhile, combine powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, and up to 4 teaspoons hot water until of spreading consistency. When smooth, spread over the brownies.

Makes 16 bars.
