Carob brownies, sweetened with honey and studded with walnuts.
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup carob powder
1 cup honey
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
- Blend together melted butter, carob powder, and honey in a bowl. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
- Add a sifted mixture of whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well. Stir in chopped walnuts. Pour into a greased 8-inch baking dish.
- Bake for 40 minutes. Cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Makes 12 brownies.
