Milk Chocolate and Peanut Butter Bars

1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine creamy peanut butter and softened butter beating until smooth. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Continue beating until creamy.
  3. Blend in flour and salt. Spread into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; bake 25 to 30 minutes.
  4. After bars have been removed from oven and while they are still hot sprinkle with chocolate chips and let stand until the chips are soft. Spread evenly over the top and allow to cool completely before cutting.
