Brown sugar brownies (also
called blondies) with colorful candy-covered chocolates baked
throughout.

Brownies
- 1 cup butter or margarine,
softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 (12-ounce) package or 2 cups candy-covered chocolate pieces
1 cup nuts, chopped
- Preheat oven to 375°F
(190°C).
- In a medium bowl, cream
together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg
and vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine
flour and baking soda. Add to the creamed mixture and blend well.
Stir in candy-covered chocolate pieces and chopped nuts. Spread
the dough into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes,
or until the center is set. Cool before cutting.
Makes 24 bars.
