Saucy Oven-Barbecued Steaks
Fork-tender, round steak oven-braised in a barbecue sauce.
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 pounds round steak, cut into serving-size pieces
3/4 cup tomato ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
- Heat oil in a large skillet. Add trimmed, cut-up round steak and brown on both sides. Transfer to a baking dish.
- Combine ketchup, water, cider vinegar, brown sugar, prepared mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Pour sauce over the beef, cover, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until beef is fork-tender.
