Fruit Smoothies
- 1 cup (8-ounces) plain lowfat yogurt,
or any flavor as desired
- 1 cup 2% milk or any flavored fruit juice
- 1 medium banana, sliced
- 1 cup whole strawberries, or your choice
of fruit, cut-up as needed (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 to 10 ice cubes (see Cook's Note)
- Place all ingredients, except the ice
cubes, into container of electric blender and blend on high until
smooth.
- With blender running, add 2 to 3 ice cubes
at a time through the center opening in the lid until all ice
cubes have been added. Blend until smooth. Serve
immediately.
Makes 2 servings.
Cook's Note: If you freeze the fruit and
yogurt ahead of time, there is no need to use ice to "thicken"
the smoothie. Keep individual servings of yogurt in the freezer
just for this purpose. And...don't forget to freeze those bananas
when past their prime for use in smoothies, too!
