Olga's Hot Chocolate Oatmeal Drink.

Grain drinks of all types are popular throughout Latin America. Inspired by Olga from Virginia, this unique recipe for hot chocolate uses oats and is creamy and delicious with a hint of cinnamon, the perfect way to warm up on a chilly autumn or winter day.

Olga's Hot Chocolate Oatmeal Drink

4 cups 1% milk
1 bunch (about a handful or 1/2 cup tightly packed) fresh mint sprigs, washed and patted dry
4 envelopes Rich Chocolate Flavor NESTLÉ Hot Cocoa Mix
  1. Place water and oats in blender container; cover. Blend for 30 seconds. Strain mixture through fine mesh strainer into medium saucepan. Discard solids.
  2. Add evaporated milk, sugar, cinnamon sticks and nutmeg to saucepan. Cook on medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture lightly coats the back of a spoon (about 25 to 30 minutes). Remove from heat and remove cinnamon sticks.
  3. Stir in Nesquik with wire whisk until well blended. If necessary, additional warmed evaporated milk or water can be added for a thinner consistency. Serve hot with grilled ham and cheese sandwiches or arepas.

Makes 5 servings.
