Lemon Poppy Seed Bread
A sweet, lemony yeast bread laced with poppy seeds and toasted almonds. Recipe uses a bread machine.
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup lemon yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon lemon peel
2 teaspoons lemon extract
3 cups white bread flour
1 1/2 tablespoons dry milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted*
3 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 (.25-ounce) packet active dry yeast or 2 1/4 teaspoons
- Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer.
- Select Basic bread cycle and start machine.
Makes 1 (1 1/2 pound) loaf.
*To toast nuts, place in a shallow baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes or until oats are lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Cool.
