A sweet, yet hearty yeast bread made with whole wheat, pure maple syrup, cinnamon-flavored chips and toasted walnuts. A recipe for bread machines.

Maple Walnut Bread

1 cup plus 3 tablespoons water
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose or bread flour
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup cinnamon-flavored chips
1 cup chopped toasted walnuts
  1. Place ingredients in bread machine pan in the order given by manufacturer. Select Sweet or Basic setting; press Start.
  2. Add the cinnamon chips and walnuts at the beep or second kneading cycle.

Makes one (1 1/2 pound) loaf.
