Breakfast casseroles are the easiest way to serve the first meal of the day.

Cheese and Sausage Breakfast Casserole

8 slices white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 pound bulk pork sausage, cooked and crumbled
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
10 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Butter a 9 x 13 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Place bread in prepared dish. Top with cooked sausage and cheese.
  3. Beat together eggs with remaining ingredients. Pour over sausage mixture.
  4. Bake casserole until puffed and center is set, about 50 minutes. Cut into squares and serve hot.

Makes 8 to 10 servings.
