French toast at its finest. Sprinkled with powdered sugar or drizzled with syrup, you'll never taste anything quite so grand!

Monte Cristo French Toast

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 large eggs, well beaten
8 slices raisin bread
  1. In bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in milk and eggs; beat well. Cut each bread slice in thirds. Dip strips in batter and fry in 1/2-inch of oil in a large skillet, until golden on both sides. Remove, drain and place in shallow pan in heated oven until all are cooked. Serve hot.

Makes 6 servings.
