This baked French toast,
banana and strawberry casserole will be the star attraction of
a special breakfast or brunch buffet.
Overnight
Baked French Toast
- 1 loaf French bread, cut
into 1-inch slices
- 6 large eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 (10-ounce) bag frozen
strawberries
- 4 medium ripe bananas,
1/2-inch slices
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple pie
spice
- Sugar for sprinkling
- Combine eggs, milk, baking
powder and vanilla. Pour over bread slices, cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Next morning: Combine
strawberries and bananas and place in glass casserole dish. Sprinkle sugar and apple pie spice
over strawberries and
bananas. Place slices of egg-soaked bread on top of strawberries
and bananas. Sprinkle top
with sugar.
- Bake 450°F
(230°C) for 20
to 25 minutes.
- Serve with whipped cream
or powdered sugar.
Makes 6 servings.
