Pound Cake
- 3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 pound butter, softened
1 cup vegetable shortening
5 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond flavoring
3 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
- In a bowl cream together
sugar, softened butter, and shortening. Beat in eggs, milk, vanilla,
and almond flavoring.
- Sift together cake flour,
baking powder, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture. Mix until
thoroughly combined.
- Pour into a greased and
floured tube pan
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 to 1 1/2
hours, or until done.
Makes 12 servings.
