A good, basic cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting

4 ounces (half of an 8-ounce package) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
  1. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese, butter and vanilla until well blended. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating to spreading consistency.
  2. Frost cooled cake.

Makes makes enough frostiing to frost a 13 x 9-inch cake. (Recipe can be doubled.)

Cook's Tip: If a sweeter frosting is desired, add more powdered sugar to taste.
