Easy Caramel Frosting
As good as it is easy, this creamy caramel frosting goes well with a large variety of cake flavors.
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup whole milk
2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Bring the butter and brown sugars in a saucepan over medium heat to a boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the milk and bring mixture back to a boil.
- Remove pan from heat and stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until frosting is smooth. Frost cooled cake immediately.
Frosts and fills an 8 or 9-inch layer cake, or 1 (13x9x2-inch) cake, or 24 cupcakes.
