Walnut Applesauce Cake
A white cake mix make easy preparation of this moist and delicious walnut applesauce spice cake.
1 (18.25-ounce) package white cake mix
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup applesauce
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup raisins
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 13x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
- In a bowl combine white cake mix, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir in applesauce and mix well. Add chopped walnuts and raisins. Stir until thoroughly combined. Pour into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until tested done. Cool in the pan on wire rack. Cool completely.
- If desired, frost with a cream cheese, caramel, penuche or vanilla buttercream frosting, or simply serve this moist cake sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Makes 12 servings.
Tip: Cake can be made in two, greased and floured, (9-inch) round cake pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until tested done. Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes; then turn out to cool completely. Fill and frost as desired.
