Decorated Sugar Cookies
Think you don't have time to make holiday cut-outs? Ready-made cookie dough takes much of the work out of making cut-out cookies. Decorating them with the kids can be lots of fun, too!
1 (18-ounce) package NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Sugar Cookie Bar Dough
All-purpose flour for sprinkling
Easy Cookie Icing:
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk, plus more as needed
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Few drops food coloring (optional)
Decorator sprinkles, as desired
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Sprinkle flour onto work surface. Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness, using additional flour as needed to prevent sticking. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Transfer cookies to ungreased cookie sheets with spatula.
- Bake for 10 to 14 minutes or until light brown around edges. Smaller cutters and sharp edges tend to produce darker cookies. Cool on baking sheets for 1 minute; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Decorate as desired.
- For Easy Cookie Icing: Combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in small bowl. Stir in additional milk, a teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency. For colored icing, tint with food coloring.
Makes 2 dozen cookies.
