Buttery walnut tea cakes,
sweetened with molasses and rolled in powdered sugar.

Butterball Cookies
- 1 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup molasses
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Preheat oven to 325°F
(160°C).
- In a bowl beat butter
and molasses with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy.
Add flour and beat until well blended. Stir in finely chopped
walnuts.
- Shape dough into 1-inch
balls. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Remove
to a wire rack and cool. Roll in powdered sugar.
Makes 24 cookies.
