Milk and white chocolate chips, a hint of maple flavoring and ground oats are reason enough that this recipe is destined to be a cookie jar favorite in your home.

Deluxe Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups oats (finely ground in blender or food processor)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon maple extract
2 large eggs
1 (12-ounce) package milk chocolate chips
1 (6-ounce) package white chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl combine the flour, ground oatmeal, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla, maple, and eggs. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring just until mixed. Fold in the milk and white chocolate chips and the walnuts.
  4. Drop by spoonfuls 2-inches apart onto baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Turn baking sheet around after 6 minutes to ensure even browning. Transfer cookies to wire rack to cool completely. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.

Makes 6 dozen or 72 cookies.
