Ooh la la, you will love
these fresh strawberries a la cream, filled with a luscious orange
liqueur-laced sweetened cream cheese.
Strawberries
a La Cream Cheese
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream
cheese, softened
2 tablespoons orange liqueur, sherry or other liqueur of your
choice
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 quart strawberries
- Mint leaves for garnish
(optional)
- In a medium mixing bowl,
beat cream cheese until fluffy, gradually adding sherry and sugar.
- Wash strawberries in cold
water. Drain well and dry excess moisture with paper towels;
then hull.
- From point, slit each
berry into quarters, but do not cut through bottom. Using a cake
decorator, fill each berry with cheese mixture, bringing to a
peak at the top. Refrigerate.
- To serve, arrange on mounds
of crushed ice. Garnish with mint leaves, if desired.
Makes 6 servings.
Variation: Add 2 tablespoons
finely shredded Wisconsin Swiss cheese or 2 tablespoons crumbled
Wisconsin Blue cheese to cream cheese mixture before filling
strawberries, if desired.
