Seasonal berries, including strawberries are a perfect ingredient to use for homemade ice cream. Combined with evaporated milk, sugar and lemon juice strawberries make the perfect hot weather treat.
Strawberry Ice Cream
- 2 cups unsweetened strawberry pulp*
2 (12-ounce) cans evaporated milk (or 3 cups heavy cream)
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
- Combine strawberry pulp, evaporated milk, sugar, lemon juice and salt in large bowl. Pour into ice cream maker; freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
Makes 16 servings.
Any fruit or berry may be used. If using sweetened frozen berries, reduce sugar to 1/2 cup.
