visitor recipePizza Burgers made with English muffins. Great after-school snacks that can be frozen. Submitted by Debbie from Sterling, Il.

Pizza Burgers

1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 (15-ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
18 English muffins, split
6 tablespoons butter
3 cups processed spreadable cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  1. Brown hamburger and sausage until no longer pink; drain.
  2. Add spaghetti sauce to meat and simmer on low for 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat broiler.
  4. Butter english muffins and broil until golden brown.(I use the spray butter, it's much faster.) Turn oven down to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Top each muffin with processed cheese. Spoon on meat mixture and then top with mozzarella.
  6. Bake until cheese is melted, 5 to 10 minutes.

Makes 18 servings.

Cooking Tips:

  • To freeze pizzas for future meals, place on cookie sheet and put in freezer for 30 minutes to make them firm. Transfer to freezer bags to store.
  • To cook frozen pizzas, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes or until heated through.
