A pizza-style burger mixture tops split hamburger buns, is baked and served open-faced.

Pizza Burgers

1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 hamburger buns
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 (4-ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 (4-ounce) can sliced black olives
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet; drain. Add oregano and garlic powder; stir well.
  2. Split hamburger buns and place on a baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, combine sugar and tomato paste; mix well. Brush the tomato paste on top of each half of the hamburger buns.

  5. Place sliced mushroom and sliced black olives on top of each bun half. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes 4 servings.
