Spaghetti and meatballs are a classic combination that never goes out of style. Ready-made spaghetti sauce makes quick work of this dish.

Sassy Spaghetti and Meatballs

3/4 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese - divided use
1 large egg, beaten
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
8 ounces spaghetti pasta
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (24-ounce) jar spaghetti or marinara sauce
  1. In a large bowl, combine beef, bread crumbs, half of the Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix gently until thoroughly combined. Form into 16 meatballs; set aside.
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions while making the sauce.
  3. In a large skillet heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides, about 7 minutes. Drain off excess fat and add spaghetti sauce. Bring to a gentle boil, cover and reduce heat; simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve spaghetti on platter with meatballs and sauce on top. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Makes 4 servings.
