These easy marshmallow popcorn balls can be made to fit any holiday by your choice of 'stir-ins'.

Holiday Mallow Popcorn Balls

1/4 cup butter
4 cups miniature marshmallows or 40 large marshmallows
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 cups popped popcorn (unpopped kernels removed)

Suggested Stir-Ins:
Candy coated chocolates
Peanuts
Candy corn
Gum drops
  1. In a large saucespan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and salt and cook, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla; blend well.
  2. Place popcorn in large bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn; mix lightly to coat. Mix in 1 cup your choice of the Stir-Ins, if desired.
  3. Shape mixture into 10 (3-inch) balls with lightly greased hands. Place on sheets of wax paper; let stand until firm.
  4. Wrap each popcorn ball plastic or cellophane wrap and store in airtight container at room temperature.

Makes 10 popcorn balls.
