Pizza By The Foot
Everybody loves French bread pizza, it's quick, easy, and tastes great. For variation on flavor, mix and match other 'pizza toppings' and make it your own recipe.
2 mild Italian sausage links (8 ounces)
1/2 cup water
1 (1-pound) loaf unsliced French bread
1 (15.5-ounce) jar pizza sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup coarsely chopped onion
1/2 cup grated Wisconsin Parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded Wisconsin Mozzarella cheese
- Place sausage and water in shallow pan. Cover and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 to 12 minutes. Drain, cool slightly and cut into 1/4 inch slices. (Or, remove from casings, crumble and cook in a skillet.)
- Slice bread in half lengthwise and lay cut side up on cookie sheet.
- In small bowl, stir together pizza sauce and seasoning. Spread evenly on each cut bread half. Sprinkle each half with onion, sausage and cheeses.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
Makes 8 servings.
