A sweet and savory mixture
of dates, molasses and onion predominates in this tender pork
chop oven dinner. Assemble and put in the oven; prepare a green
salad dressed with garlicky vinaigrette and heat a loaf of French
bread. Dinner is served!
Tys Sweet
Chops
- 6 pork rib chops, 3/4-inch
thick
Vegetable oil
1/2 cup rum OR orange juice
1/3 cup sliced green onions
1/4 cup snipped dates
1/4 cup steak sauce
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
- In a bowl, combine rum,
green onions, dates, steak sauce, molasses, parsley, garlic,
lemon pepper, onion powder and salt. Pour into a 13x9x2-inch
baking dish.
- Brush chops lightly with
a little oil and brown quickly on each side in a hot skillet;
arrange browned chops on top of date mixture.
- Bake, uncovered, in 350
degrees oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
