A layering of ingredients to that produces
a lively mix for the taste buds.
Mexican
Taco Salad
- 1 pound ground beef or
turkey
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup thick and chunky salsa
3/4 cup water
1 (1.25-ounce) packet taco seasoning mix
1 (15-ounce) can kidney or pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1 (4-ounce) can diced green chiles
6 tortilla shells, or 3 cups tortilla chips
6 cups shredded lettuce
3/4 cup nacho and taco blend shredded cheese - divided use
- Cook beef and onion until
beef is browned; drain. Stir in salsa, water and seasoning mix.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Stir in beans and chiles.
- Layer ingredients as follows
in each shell: 1 cup lettuce, 3/4 cup meat mixture, 2 tablespoons
cheese, guacamole and tomatoes for garnish.
