
Like the title says, this is a great salad
to take along to potlucks and picnics. If you want crisp taco
shells, don't mix them in until right before serving.
Take
Along Taco Salad
- 1 pound ground beef
3/4 cup water
1 (1.25-ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mild to medium taco sauce
6 to 8 ounces corn tortilla chips, crumbled
2 cups shredded lettuce
1 cup chopped red onion
1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
- Optional: chopped tomatoes,
sliced ripe olives
- Brown beef; drain. Add
water and seasoning mix. Prepare according to seasoning mix directions;
cool.
- Combine sour cream and
taco sauce in small bowl. Toss taco shells, lettuce, onion, cheese,
tomatoes and olives in large, resealable plastic bag. Add beef
mixture and sour cream mixture; toss well. Serve immediately
or refrigerate. Top with additional taco sauce, if desired.
