Take Along Taco Salad
Like the recipe's name says, this is a great salad to take along to potlucks and picnics. If you prefer crisp tortilla chips, don't mix them in until right before serving, or simply sprinkle on top of the salad.
1 pound ground beef
3/4 cup water
1 (1.25-ounce) package ORTEGA Taco Seasoning Mix - Regular
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup ORTEGA Thick & Smooth Taco Sauce - Medium
6 to 8 ounces corn tortilla chips, crumbled
2 cups shredded lettuce
1 cup chopped red onion
1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
Optional: chopped tomatoes, sliced ripe olives
- Brown beef; drain. Add water and seasoning mix. Prepare according to seasoning mix directions; cool.
- Combine sour cream and taco sauce in small bowl. Toss crumbled tortilla chips, lettuce, onion, cheese, tomatoes and olives in large, resealable plastic bag. Add beef mixture and sour cream mixture; toss well. Serve immediately or refrigerate. Top with additional taco sauce, if desired.
